Without strict habitat protection and even stricter population control, there is not much of a future for any of the larger fauna.
It might be a 'feel good' moment to harangue (deservedly) some big ticket hunters, but if it distracts from the big battle for assuring a future for these animals it would be even a larger tragedy.
What's the latest projections? Didn't that come up in a thread here? 6 or 9 billion people, IIRC. How much room would be left for mice, let alone big cats, giraffes, rhinos, etc.
