They're starting to think lots of dinosaurs had feathers, and I want to say I heard somewhere recently that they found a fossil of a dinosaur sitting on its eggs like a bird. There has already been some speculation that the dinosaurs were warmblooded, and there's now some conjecture that feathers may have helped with warming eggs long before they were used for flying.

It's still debated, but the general consensus leans more and more towards the birds being direct descendants of dynosaurs.
