I see how it's easy to say America could never get rid of their guns. I've said it myself many times.

But I don't actually believe that. I think there is a chance it will happen. Not in the near future, but in the mid future perhaps. I'm not suggesting all guns will disappear, or even that no one is allowed guns. People are "allowed" guns in the UK, just you have to have (as far as I know) an actual good reason for having one. "Guns R kool" and "everyone else got one" are not good enough reasons in my book. I'm really glad England is the way it is. I think it is possible America will eventually follow suit. Our country works just fine without them. Not perfect, but fine.

Coming back to suicide, even if you don't kill yourself successfully, you're very likely to fuck yourself over really badly. Seriously, if I'd have had a gun at some points before now, I could not say with any confidence I wouldn't have used it on myself. I'd then be dead or messed up very badly. As it happens the easiest suicide tool I've had is a knife, and that's altogether a different story. I've thought about it, even willed myself at times, but actually harming yourself is not that easy. Pressing a trigger is a fuck lot easier.
