Quote:There is no evidence outside the Bible that "Jesus" was a real person. Personally, I would say there probably was a guy named Jesus. As for the nonsense about walking on water, healing people, a virgin birth and rising up from the dead....
You are confusing the historical Jesus with the Jesus of the Bible. Most scholars accept He existed, was baptised and was cruicifed.
Quote:I can know that "Jesus" isn't coming back for the same reason I know that Elvis isn't coming back.
But if Jesus was God, then He could come back, couldnt He?
Because God can do whatever He wants to.
Quote:Wait a minute! Believers tell me that the Bible is the word of GOD! You're telling me it wasn't the work of a deity? (BTW, I agree with your statement!)
I believe the Bible is God's Word. I question how much of it is God's Word. The Bible was not written for people in the 21st century. The NT was written for a Jewish sect who believed in the soon return of Jesus, they were not expecting this world to go for another 2000 years! We have to take the Bible for what it is, a book written by primitive people. People who did not understand science or God. God spoke through these primitive people and the bigger picture is incredible; the plan for redemption.
Quote:Well, if the Bible is the work of a deity that people use as a base for their morality, the fact that the Bible permits slavery is a HUGE problem!
How is it? Did God or people write the Bible?
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.
You dont hate God, you hate the church game.

Your mind works very simply: you are either trying to find out what are God's laws in order to follow them; or you are trying to outsmart Him. -Martin H. Fischer
