because that was hitler favorite philosopher, that's why he quoted him and that's why I found it offensive.
There may be a number of issues over which one might disagree with Nietzsche (I do), but don't saddle poor Friedrich with Hitler's cherry-picking and general lack of understanding about what Nietzsche's work meant. That's a little bit like blaming Jesus for the Westboro Baptist group. Any fair reading of Nietzsche can leave no doubt that he would have loathed Hitler, the Third Reich, and everything it stood for.
