Having not read all the replies, just the first page, the president was on tv earlier stating that refugees who come to this country are put through more rigorous tests than perhaps anyone else coming to this country. There is a two year long process in which refugees undergo much scrutiny. So to anyone who thinks that a refugee can just come over here, walk through our borders and get a big welcome, they are sadly misinformed. I am a news junkie and ever since we got to the motel, we've had the opportunity to have channels like CNN to watch. Whenever the president makes a speech, it's televised. Hard to miss.
It is sad to see so many americans show such hatred toward the president even now, seven years after he first took office. Obviously, people thought he was doing a good enough job to elect him for a second term. People need to stop blaming him for everything that is wrong with this country. They need to start looking at Congress and how many times they have blocked progress that could have been made. Obama inherited one hell of a mess when he took office. To this day, he's still getting the blame for much of what Bush left him with. How is that even fair?
We, as a country better start smartening up and stop this hatred of refugees coming into this country. If we don't, it may come back to haunt us in the future. If we aren't careful, those countries who see how our elected officials are acting towards not wanting refugees here, might do the same to us if we were ever put in the same position. It's something we all should marinate on. This country stupidly thinks it is invincible. We are not invincible and as 9/11 has shown us, we are ALL vulnerable to anything that could spell disaster.
After the attack on Paris last week, France is still willing to accept Syrian refugees. That speaks mounds towards the character of the people of France. The fact that the US is so opposed to doing the same also speaks mounds towards the character of our elected officials.
