I have a question, do you believe in evolution as a fallback to believe in something, as the National Acadamy of Sciences tells you to, or do you believe in evolution for the sake of evolution itself.'' Not believing is the default position'' can stand on its own. I think it would do atheism better to leave it out.
You are correct. Disbelief in any claim is the default position. The time to start believing something is when it is supported by demonstrable, repeatable, falsifiable evidence and reasoned argument.
And you know what? There are mountains of evidence to support evolution as the best model to explain the diversity of life on Earth. Evolution has been observed in the lab and in the field.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
