Yes, just like Neo has some obvious similarities to jesus. But neither The Matrix nor Star wars are direct retelling of the bible. As you pointed out earler, there are elements of eastern religion, modern politics, historical wars, etc. It isn't just a modern retelling of the bible, as the linked article claims.
