First, some important ones have been listed. Excuse, if we don't compile the whole history of the last 600 years for you. One can expect that you at least have a look at the last century. As in books. We all took that step. Some of us, being old enough, also saw what happened within the last 40 years with our own eyes. For example, how the Palestinian movement turned from nationalist leftist to dogmatic religious. The reasons for that are pretty obvious and one would think, they are still in public memory.

I think, this has been answered as nauseam. I'm actually tired of repeating what so many said before. Noone defends religion. We tend to defend people, if they are unjustly thrown under the same blanket without looking at their individuality and their differences. And we tend to do that with all groups of people that are attacked in a similar way. It's just that the fashion right now is muslim bashing.
