Does "judge not lest ye be judged" not mean what it says?
But I do hold myself to the standard I have accepted and present to the world. Likewise in the 'do unto others' spirit I get to show the hyprocrisy or (hold the mirror up) to the satirist. Because they are not holding themselves up to the standard of 'tolerance' they pretend to be apart of.
Um actually that is a horrible standard. I do get the intent behind it. But if you like bitching about others that means you bitch about others yourself and that also means they have the right to bitch about you.
The way it was put to me by my friend Bob goes like this "Don't do to others what you would not want done to you".
But in reality not even that is perfect on a planet of 7 billion. So it seems the best we can get, and in the west we do a better job of it, "Say what you want, bitch all you want, but leave it at words. No acts of violence or calls to violence".
Nobody likes their property or person violated. But on a planet of 7 billion we don't like being told what to think or say and we dont always say nice things. So the only pragmatic overlapping civility is secular common law.
