I agree that other minority groups have very different struggles; but, the atheist/theist situation is far from even.
They have numbers, but we've got the money/power (young/white/educated/affluent). Sure, the whiny cosmetic stuff like In God we Trust, the theists are winning. But the media and social discourse are strongly in our favor on the overall framing of the debate. The president called people out for clinging to their bibles. The beliefs of theists are being labeled close-minded/bigoted/etc... Popular opinion is whittling down acceptable religiousness to a watered down convictionless belief. Which is in all practicality, atheism.
I definitely expect my life as an atheist is easier than that of a theist going forward. Although, if you live far enough in the south, that probably isn't the case there yet. But they're 30 or 40 years behind most of the time on a lot of stuff.
