Happy Resurrection Day is a bit odd. My guess the clerk was playing I'm a better christian than you by emphasising the true meaning of Easter. I have a sick sense of humor and various retorts come to mind:
Don't you mean happy Salvation Day? (The one upper);
I hope you had a happy Scurging and Crucifixion Friday (The grusome)
*sob* *sniff* I'm sorry but my daughter died in a car crash on the way to Easter service and now chocolate bunnies make me cry. (The guilt inducing)
Sorry we're pagan, but I promise to have a great fertility festival just for you--eggs, bunnies, and chicks, spring flowers. (Counterculture aggressive)
Oh, and I thought it was Easter. (The Traditionalist)
Easter is just a cultural appropriation of Passover. We think it's inappropriate to celebrate it. (The obnoxiously PC)
Oh no, Easter should be a time of prayer and contemplation. (The ultimate one upper*).
But I wouldn’t actually say any of them except perhaps, oh and I thought it was Easter. And I'd save that for the obviously piusly smug.
Yes Jenny, I think you're right. Th cashier next to her was wearing bunny ears so I think it was a passive aggressive knock on her for losing sight of the "true meaning" of the holiday. I don't mind happy Easter either. Happy resurrection day is way too heavy on the Jesus for my tastes though. [emoji12]
