Well, yes. Belief gets jammed into the head first, then any rationalization is sought. Perfectly understandable through psychology.
With ruthless indoctrination, the very idea that the belief might be wrong is as absurd to us as thinking we might have gravity upside down.
They are victims of psychological damage, which sadly perpetuates itself, as they feel what was done to them was actually good because they know no different.
It's so clear and easy for me to analyze it all from the outside. But to someone under the spell, I may as well be randomly palming the keyboard.
