I don't draw an obvious line like you do between being on your property and not being on your property. This distinction seems arbitrary - it's the outcome (saving your life and your property) that you cite as a reason for wanting a gun - yet you'd give it all up if you weren't at home? Weird. What if you're on holiday in a hotel? Or in your car? Why ask if I am trying to be an ass, just because I am trying to understand the pro-gun view?
There are plenty of threads on this forum about indoctrination, and to me, the pro-gun lobby might as well be a bunch of religious leaders. It's still indoctrination, people can still be deluded, or take actions based on a fear-mongering. I haven't been indoctrinated, so I can't see any good enough evidence to suggest that arming people leads to a better society.
