I agree. The way I describe it is the beliefs are already in place, and the "arguments" they present are rationalizations. They are ways they have either heard about or come up to make their beliefs sound more sensible. But since they came afterwards and not before, the theist doesn't care if they get cut to pieces as they can replace them with hundreds more, and they don't care if they all fall.
They are strawmanning themselves. And no, they've never convinced me of anything ever, besides the mundane.
Ignor: You could believe in just a generic creator, and that's it. Whether this qualifies as deism if you don't plaster the creator in superlatives, I don't know. But if it does, it would be about as un-woo as theism could get.
