You Can't Boycott Mississippi

One of those states I've never even passed through.

I was stuck in New Orleans on 9-11 at a union conference.  After 3 days of watching Dubya fuck up the airlines more than bin Laden had 3 of us from NY decided to rent a car and drive back.  The route took us through Mississippi and into Alabama and Georgia.  We were one jew, one black guy and one guinea ( me).  

I drove the first lap out of Louisiana and switched with the black guy.  The jewish guy was dozing in the back.  As we pulled out onto the highway the black guy spotted a Mississippi State Trooper across the road and said "I better watch my speed."  From the back came this drowsy voice saying, "don't worry...if we get stopped I'll just tell them we are civil rights workers."  The black guy said "BULLSHIT.  You tell them that I'm the chauffeur!"

I've never had an inclination to go back to the Gulf States....or New Orleans.
