Like most things, I don't think you've thought this through...
THE WHY they are a target is what is getting down played.
They were targeted because this guy was a closet homo, and was trying to atone for sin.
The idea being if this guy loved hetro hookers they would be targeted, or if he had a thing for women who simply wore provocative clothing they could be a potential target. Really anyone the west allows to break sharia law which the punishment of the broken sin is death. His obligation as a measure to repent for his sin is to bring as many of these law breakers to allah as it is his only hope as well as the law breakers only hope for eternal life. This is true for all Sunni (95% of all muslims) which makes these guys potential time bombs. And why the government through the news media is working so hard to keep a lid on all of this
The homosexual community was just this guys vise, yet nothing beyond a hate crime is being held up as the root cause. More persecution more martyrdom more bullying from the world. So the solution is to give homosexual leaders a political voice and to ban what the media are classifying as an assault rifles.
Which again does absolutely nothing, because our problem here has nothing to do with guns nor homosexuals, but with broken people who have declared war with soceity. If a military combatant finds himself behind enemy lines and has no gun, does he simply adopt the culture or does he strike out some other way? Last I checked a certain nitrate based and drag racing fuel makes one hell of a bang, and none of those things are illegal for anyone.
