No gun crime in the UK, nosirree.
I can say one thing, I don't think this would have gone down this way in my neck of the woods. Quite honestly if you make a phone call, obviously out loud, to have someone bring you a gun so that you can assault someone, you're probably not going to make it out of the store. Instead of HIDING IN FEAR IN HIS OWN HOME that neighbor would have at the very least owned a deer rifle & could have stopped this from their front porch / window.
That thug had no fear of reprisal.
