I don't know how anyone could seriously think a person would choose to remain depressed if there was such a simple solution. You might as well tell an amputee to "just grow another arm".
This. I have depression and it's not that easy at all. A good attitude may help at times, but it doesn't defeat depression for good. It always comes back to give you a swift kick in the ribs again later on. Actually, someone telling me to "just get over it" just makes it worse. Anyone who actually has depression instead of just sadness would realize how bad that sounded.
I'm not sad, ok? I'm depressed. So stop acting like the only victim here. You don't know what I go through, just because I act like I don't, ok?
