It's hard to see where islam could have come from without xtianity. That's a complex issue and drives the muslims off the fucking wall. The Roman world was highly tolerant of other religions so the question really boils down to what would have happened when the Roman Empire fell.
Would some future conqueror have had the idea to use religion as some sort of unifying force? Maybe. Maybe not. Certainly without jesusism around there would have been no model for it.
