Marriage devalues a connection with a person for me, as it states that I am bound legally to them. Then it is no longer about staying together because we like each other, but because the contract says we will.

Don't need to marry to declare love for each other. For some reason it feels like you've lost feeling in the whole point in being with that person.
Besides, if things do go fuck, there's that whole expensive side to it. The divorce, the I'll take the house, you can have the car shit.
