Have you never listed to pop music or watched a Disney movie? You may argue that people know that pop music and television love stories and Disney movies are all fictional and that they're for "entertainment purposes only" but I think that many/most people still believe in "true love" and that finding "the one" will help them live "happily ever after."
According to one study (http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=93078&page=1) "88 percent agreed there was a "special person, a soul mate, waiting for you somewhere out there," and 87 percent thought they would find that person when they were ready to get married."
This is probably why I know too many people who regurgitate this garbage. Okay, those same people are also a bit younger than me. Correlation, causation, or a bit of both?
I don't believe you. Get over it.
