You wild man! (Me too.) But tell me, while it may be possible to have a non carbon based life form or one not based on DNA, don't you think it more likely that most if not all will? I believe suspect that.
I've read up on the topic several years ago for a talk on exoplanets I gave, and even talked to an expert, though I don't remember all the details. There is a branch of biology/chemistry where they are trying to rigorously determine ways to have life based on different elements, or even in solvents other than water, which is super interesting (think liquid methane). I also lean towards carbon being the element of choice even for space alien life.
