You know what the most poignant, tragicomic thing is about this whole dreary thread?
No matter how convinced Mariosep is that he's "proved" his imaginary friend, his so-called proof has no actual value. He could believe in his god with all his strength to literally his last breath on this earth, and scant seconds later it will be as if he never believed at all. His heart will stop. His lungs will stop. His blood will stop circulating. The neural networks in his brain will swiftly decay into insentient goo. Long before the doctor signs the death certificate and his body is hauled away to the morgue, his precious faith will be lost forever and only the molecules of his body will remain.
