Have you seen FEMA's projections on the west coast? They flat out say that people west of a line are unreachable, unsavable. It;s been written off for the worst case scenario. Far more important is to stop the damage at that line, and to assist those to the east thereof.
It;s too bad, really, because the area is/was so idyllic at initial colonization...but ofc we never stopped to ask ourselves -why- such a pristine place existed. Why the natives hadn't properly exploited it. Turns out, it's a regular meatgrinder.
