I think the question of whether believers should follow a command they believe comes from God if the command is for them to do an evil act is interesting.
If I had remained some sort of theist believing in an omnibenevolent God, I think my response would be that God can't be the source of a command to commit an evil act. If I were a Biblical literalist as well, I think that would present me with a dilemma. Which it did, actually, once upon a time.
