Had a big impact on me too,when I read it in 1971.

"The God Delusion" and "God Is Not Great "are both polemics ;the authors lifted their main arguments from Russell



I also recommend listening to the famous radio debate between Fr Frederick C Copleton (SJ) and Bertrand Russell (1948) (both parts linked below)
