Why are they celebrated? Because they run their mouths and people bought into their narratives. Did they move a single stone running their mouths, or did they just add to their bank accounts? That would be up for debate.
I guess there are quite a few women in that camp. But maybe they're wiser, maybe they don't need the limelights. Apart from every one of the above being wrong when outside their very own field of expertise. Ehrman, a theologian, tries his hands at history, and sometimes he got even the basics wrong. Same goes for Sagan. Can't say much on Hitchens and Dawkins. I never read a single line or listened to a single word by Hitchens and I only heard and read from Dawkins what's inside his very own field of expertise, where he is one of the best.
