Even open and notorious adultery seems to garner nary even a glance of disapproval these days, yet preachers still rail against ho-mo-sex-ual marriage as though it was the only thing Jesus Himself ever commanded be taught from the pul-pit.
The Westboro folks do, on occasion, carry a placard regarding divorce, but it is just very, very occasional. Makes the disproportionality of it all the more strange.
Yep, sexual sin is sexual sin. Doesn't make a difference whether it comes from a gay or straight person. I too have noticed this double standard you speak of. But it's no mystery to me why it exists. It's bc it's much easier for ppl to be critical of sins that they personally have never struggled with and can't relate to.
As for the Westboros, they're all just a bunch of heartless trolls. I wouldn't give them any more credibility than that.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
