Debate: God Exists

let me explain again. The concept of god in every incarnation that has been presented to me I have found to be unconvincing and laughably stupid.
I am always open to new ideas but when all I have seen are vaccuus silly ideas of what god could be I have to say that I don't believe them.

So too thought the world is flat-ers. So too thought man could not fly. So too thought man would die if he exceeded 35mph. I'am asking you what makes you different? not the same as those people

You don't have anything new, you've said your piece here and it is less than convincing.

What was my piece? what common place thing did I say the lulled you to sleep so quickly that you moved to dismiss rather than discuss?

You say I am closed to ideas I am not but I can discard them once they've been looked at and found wanting.

That's just it sport... You stand in condemnation of God with nothing to support you except admittly limited/nonexisting life experience to tip your own scales. that act is what the term 'closed minded' is trying to describe. You have nothing but you own feelings, no evidence, no effort nothing just what the group says (just like the world is flat-ers) So again I ask what makes you any different if you are not willing to find out for yourself? You just take the word of others and make it your own truth.

If someone said there was an elephant in your fridge would you go back repeatedly to look because they keep saying "no really its there" even once you'd looked and found no footprints in the butter.

If the people who keep telling me no it's really there were beyond trust worthy... I would examine my definition of an elephant, fridge, in, and even the word 'was' and how it was being used.

I would never assume that just because my perception could not easily account for or completely phantom what was being communicated doesn't mean it is not possible. after all who am I? Who am I to say my understanding of the phrase "There was an elephant in your fridge" was the only or one correct interpretation to that phrase

When you grew up in a bilingual house hold rarely could you hold a person to a specific meaning or use of phrase. Rather the objective was to discern what is being communicated, and then look to see how the words best fit. If I had someone I trusted tell me something in all honesty that sounded crazy at first I would start breaking what was being said down to it's simplist form.and go from there.
