Why so few gay? Why so few black? Why so few children? Why so few of those who are single, and ready to 'mingle'?

Misogyny aside, organized religions have a laundry list of doctrines, edicts, commands, etc. that could easily be deemed as targeted, or demeaning towards any number of individuals, amongst a number of subgroups. Yet, the overwhelming majority of the world's population are believers.
So, I'm guessing that the answer to the OP's question can readily be found in response to "Why are there so few atheists?", period.
