Also, if the Emperor had declared himself to be a god before blowing up planets, would there be as much resistance?

Thou to be fair it was a planet destroying super weapon that depending on cannon killed 6 times that many . Piloted by  space Nazi's. That took the lives of countless slaves to build . And who's construction and maintaince stripped whole worlds of resources . Causing ecological  collapses and mass starvation across multiple star systems . resulting in the death of millions more .

A good long time mate (nice guy but not Einstein) came around to my factory the other day (he's a sales rep).
