Was any of this bullshit funded in part on the taxpayers' dime as that play was? Did any of this receive corporate funding and funding by The New York Times as did the play? Are you defending that play which depicted an assassination of the president?

It seems you are incapable of seeing nuance, so I'll spell it out for you. Do you understand the point of Julius Caesar? You are busy whinging about this (meanwhile I didn't see any posts about the rightwing crazies calling for the assassination of Obama for 8 years) and either clearly you don't understand Shakespeare (which doesn't surprise me) or even the story of Julius Caesar. The murder of Julius Caesar isn't heralded by Shakespeare. It isn't celebrated in the play. The "defenders of democracy" are, in the end, shown to be the enemies of democracy, taking matters into their own hands.

Shakespeare in the Park (and I have been to see shows two different summers) isn't supported by a per play basis. Yes, the land is owned by the city, but to equate that to this play being "taxpayer funded" is just infantile reasoning. Same with the corporate sponsorship---the entire troupe has corporate sponsors, the sponsors didn't sign up for Julius Caesar specifically.

Regardless, it's not even a call to assassinate the president. It's exactly the opposite.
