I've been a lurker on a lot of these forums/websites. Read crazy stories, read weird stories, read wholesome stories. You name it...
Here's mine:
The interesting thing was that I was unintentionally introduced to a lot of religions as a kid. My family is Hmong, refugees of the Vietnam War from Laos. I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and grew up in a conservative town in Wisconsin, and then moved to a liberal one: Madison, Wisconsin. Which is pretty diverse for Wisconsin, so I saw a lot of other cultures and religions...
I had heard many origin stories, but no secular ones surprisingly! I finally heard about the Big Bang theory in 6th grade. And as a found my love for science and teaching, I realized that the Big Bang theory needed a story too.
As an educator now, I'm actually working to publish the first book to explain the Big Bang theory to preschoolers!
Wow you had an interesting childhood. My aunt was miss Thailand years ago and was always the sweetest thing me. Great idea to do Big Bang Theory children's book. Educating young ones is key to progressing past the restraints of religion. Tell me when u get it published I'd love to show it to my educator clients.
I was a born-again christian for many years then I got woke.. and now life is better in so many ways. It's taking me time to see my value and find my voice, but the reward is liberating knowing my path is not dictated or controlled by fear of death and the unknown. Casting off the shackles of religion is pretty fucking awesome. The beautiful people I've met on this forum have more heart and compassion than any group of people I've been apart of. So back off Jesus and followers, because this bitch is done with Chu.
