Lemme just scribble another notch on my card here. 
I actually do see this as the main cause of liberal malaise at present. The right wing elements of our government floated all that shit at their own people first because they were pretty sure that their own people were gullible idiots who wanted to hear it. Test phase being a smashing success...they're now wondering how much traction the same narrative can get with the left.
Not only can they get their own followers to stand at attention and sig fucking heil by pretending that they're being white genocided - they can get the left to shrivel up and run at the mere implication that they're the party doing it. They;re not, ofc, the right is white genociding the right - but they don't want those crazies on -their- asses while they do it...because they know they're crazy, they've been cultivating it in them for decades - bit like breeding livestock.
