It's a matter of degrees, sure, but at a minimum, every last one is delusional. That may not qualify as a mental illness or full-blown psychosis but adhering to it displays numerous symptoms of various disorders. Maybe it belongs to its own specialized niche of mental defects since no one ever comes to religious conclusions on their own. A condition that has to be inflicted rather than something that develops on its own, but still a condition.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
