I agree with OP though. I certainly don't want to live in a world where people no longer disrespect eachother, because that could only come close to being achieved through mass censorship. Calling people bitch or moron or cunt to their face or over the internet just pretty much guarantees that nothing is going to come out of the conversation though. You're not going to learn anything and the person you're talking to isn't going to learn anything from you if you're just calling them names the whole time. I usually show respect, even when the other side says "fuck free speech. Let's do away with it".

That's where the bitch part came from. It was bitchy to assume and call her out as a liar because they 'think' it won't happen. Maybe it will, maybe it won't but to pretty much say 'you are lying' is starting shit. If Cher doesn't do it then call her out on it then. Assuming before hand only makes an ass out of u, m, e (ass out of you and me)

They don't believe her because she has already broken other promises when it comes to her reaction to Trump and his policies. She promised to leave the US, and she went back on her promise, so I'd say people are being sensible when they don't take her at her word when she says she will take another pretty big step by taking a person or people in. Not being taken seriously is a consequence of breaking your word. That's just how it works. 'I'll believe it when I see it" is a perfectly reasonable position to hold.

Edit - or maybe Cher was just joking about leaving the US. I didn't hear her tone when she said it. Either way, people are sick of rich celebrities preaching at them and talking down to the little man like they are something special or that their opinions are particularly important, so I can understand people wanting celebrities to just shut up in general, and do something if they say they are going to do something without bragging about it.
