Because they aren't just board games. They are props surrounding the deliberate cultivation of altered states of consciousness with the intention of manifesting a supernatural result through evil spirits. Scoff if you want, but personally, I think messing with any kind of occult practice is dangerous - especially for non-believers.

In that case I'll jump at playing with the occult at any chance I get (and I have done in the past because it's funny) just to laugh my bollocks off at the thought of how dangerous you think it is. It's not even as dangerous than taking a shit in the woods.
