Since it's now not about the flag or anthem, maybe the players could stand for the anthem, and take a knee after they score a touchdown or get a sack, or whatever else, instead of miming duck duck goose, or whatever other choreographed silliness they had planned.
We've seen from Tebow kneeling that it certainly will get plenty of coverage. And you remove any of the confusion over the flag stuff. It'll still piss people off, but they won't have their legitimate 'What about the veterans!?" complaint. It'll just be angry white divorcee with their "Just play the game!" bullshit.
It also sticks it to the NFL, because they like to sell their players as cartoonish idiots for us all to laugh at. Look at them do their silly dances, aren't they adorable! Give us more money to watch them shimmy about!
