We've seen from Tebow kneeling that it certainly will get plenty of coverage. And you remove any of the confusion over the flag stuff. It'll still piss people off, but they won't have their legitimate 'What about the veterans!?" complaint. It'll just be angry white divorcee with their "Just play the game!" bullshit.
It also sticks it to the NFL, because they like to sell their players as cartoonish idiots for us all to laugh at. Look at them do their silly dances, aren't they adorable! Give us more money to watch them shimmy about.
Fleebow or kneeling to thank a God is not an act of protest. I don't care if a white or black player points tot the sky to thank a fictional god.
The kneeling DURING the Anthem isn't a stunt or a score celebration, nor a nod to God. It has a completely different intent.
If you think what players do in thanking God or doing the Icky Shuffle is the same as kneeling during the anthem, then sorry, no polite way to put it, BUT YOU ARE DEAD WRONG.
The players protesting during the anthem are NOT doing it for the money. If you think that, sorry, that is just simply patently absurd.
What the players are doing is NOTHING NEW. It is needed, and the very same intent as what was done by MLB players and Olympic athletes during the 60s and 70s.

And until then, they should stand with their backs facing the camera as a fuck you to Roger Goodell, and to the Americans who are offeded by this shit because they're nothing but a bunch of pathetic, whiny, racist, no-life losers.
To quote Jack Lord from the original Hawaii Five O, " You said it brodda!" Yea I know, but you still get it.
Some morons simply don't understand, or refuse to understand there are more important things that money.
I forgot which NFL kicker a few years back, got drummed out of the NFL for being an open skeptic. He'd probably still be in the league if he kept his mouth shut. Former Viking if I am remembering correctly. He spoke at an atheist convention a few years back.
And I don't know if he is still playing, and unfortunately I forgot this Running Back's name, but there was a Houston Texan black Running Back who was also a skeptic and valued science. Not sure if he is still in the league, would not surprise me if he is out just like the Vikings kicker.
Like I said, some things are far more important than money. The ability to live without fear and live in dignity is what the fight to end segregation was about. And even 50 years plus after the fact, some still fail to see that we still have inequality. If you can be kicked out of the league for being a white NFL kicker and skeptic, and lose your job for being a black NFL player and skeptic, then that should give you some idea of how we still have problems just on race issues alone.
