My husband was an eagle scout and he supports letting girls in.
Basically it's because girl scouts suck. They don't get to do all the cool stuff the boyscouts do. They don't get the money for it, and girls in girl scouts don't get all the same benefits, like an eagle scout title that can get you college scholarships, etc. I was in girl scouts when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade and I remember thinking it was so dumb. We didn't get to do much of anything, while the boy scouts got to go camping and do all these special adventurous activities and get badges that actually meant something and would look good on college applications, etc.
Also, my husband said having girls in there would really have helped build better social relationships between girls and boys. It would help them learn to relate to each other and have a better understanding of the opposite sex.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
