With a BAFTE Destructive Device Permit, right? What I wonder is why any average joe needs either a bazooka or an AK74?

If it was manufactured and NFA register before 1986, there are no state our local laws prohibiting procession, and your local chief LEO will sign off on it you too can own one after you pay the $200 tax and the purchase price. As to why, well that is going to depend on the average Joe. Collector, enthusiast, movie prop guy… Why don’t you ask Gawdzilla why he needs two .50 caliber machine guns?

Thanks for the info, pappy. I've fired most of the common assault rifles. I carried an AR15 when I was with the sheriff's dept-until I ended up with a truck and no trunk. A friend of mine collected such things, so I had range time with AK47's and 74's, M16's, a Thompson (with the drum) and an Uzi, to name a few.

That said, I don't see a reason that non military, non LEO citizens should need them.
