That's ridiculous, ofc we can. There are a great many things that bureaucrats do, where they are and can be relied upon to protect us from a variety of threats.
We can't expect that they will never fail, never make a mistake - but we can hold them accountable when they do and work to eliminate things that increase the opportunity for such mistakes. How is it, for example, that the two systems involved in this one aren't connected? That the difference between a person who shouldn;t be able to buy a gun getting one or not..is an actual human being physically reporting it somewhere between the two systems?
That sounds like a recipe for disaster, don't you think?
