Yes. I was raised RCC and happened upon such wonks from time to time. It is more endemic that one might at first expect. That said, I was also raised to critical thinking. So the very same wonks very quickly learned to avoid me.
My shame? I was a kid at the time and I didn't step up for my peers. I should have but didn't. It was a case of protect yourself and the devil take the hindmost.
People who have never been there always fail to comprehend how endemically nuts it was.
All I can do is be grateful that my long dead parents intellectually and practically equipped me to handle that nonsense. Others were sadly not so well equipped.
