segregation is an opinion known in the Sunni sect; maybe the Shiite too; and was made viral by the trillions of Saudi Arabia, and the extreme results of Hadith execution and the opinions of ancient Imams (mainly from Saudi Wahhabi lines of thought).
It's very ironic that Mekka, the holy city of Islam, its grand mosque witness daily segregation:
Muslim men and women PRAY ANYWHERE, women are obligated not wear niqab too during Haj and Umra.
So it looks like Sunnies and Shiites know better than God in this regard.
