So you like to compare computer and robot with our consciousness eh?

Consciousness goes in degrees Die.
I guess you never though about that, did you?

A dog has got less consciousness that a human.
A plant less than than an animal and pure matter even less because she is in a latent state of slumber but after million of years this state of slumber slowly start to awake and we can see this in the uranium where energy-consciousness refuse to keep in that state so everything move and change.
Nothing stay the same for ever.
Energy-consciousness clearly refuse to stay in a state of permanent slumber.
Where this energy-consciousness is heading to this I leave to you to guess.  Thinking

This only show that matter is not us.  Lightbulb

I compared our bodies with computers referring to the fact that they're both systems, and no, the fact that humans are a system doesn't prove that we've been designed by a god.
I've noticed that there are various levels of consciousness, so what? How does this prove that consciousness is outside our bodies?
This is how I see the concept of a soul and an afterlife:

Why did I show you that there are different level of consciousness?

You didn't guessed, did you DA so let me explain that to you.

Our universe has a peculiarity which is that is constantly moving and changing and this moving and changing drags everything and everyone with it.
Consciousness too.
The degree of consciousness that you had 10 or more years ago is not the same now.
You want to improve all the time so does the matter a plant or an animal.
We all want to improve and go ahead.
Everything in this universe is behind destruction.
Even science tell us that energy is behind destruction.
Only most atheists think that when the body die we ( I am) also die but the desire to go ahead can not be stopped by the death of our body.
All this has already been demonstrated by thousand of NDEs experiences in which even strong atheists are now strong believers.  Lightbulb

True. But a guess is not confirmation of anything. You haven't produced any evidence that Descartes' guess was correct. Until then, I lend it no more credence than the assertion that the moon is made of cheese.

Life can be very tough VL.
You don't get anything for free.
You got to struggle all the time and this is also valid when you want to prove something.
To prove that your consciousness is located somewhere you got to struggle.
But if you follow the teaching of someone who already find that out then so much better.
The teacher can show you the way to get there.
Even when you were at school you follow the teaching of a teacher.
I do the same because this is the best way to learn and when the teaching lead you to prove something then you are there.
By following his teaching I can say that the consciousness lie in the pineal gland Descartes or not Descartes.

Quote:Yoga is the real way to find this out because yoga is small in theory and big in practice and it is in practicing that you find out who you really are and your connection to a big consciousness that pervade everything.

Quote:Yoga clears the head, which is good. It works via human physiology to have a positive impact on the mind. It doesn't give you knowledge that you didn't have before. It doesn't give you the ability to levitate. Yes, there are many benefits to regular yoga practice, but many of the claims attached to it are exaggerated.

Wrong again VL.  Banging Head On Desk
Yoga is not about learning to levitate or do miracles although once you merge into God everything is possible.
Yoga is for expanding the consciousness in order to bring a parallelism between you and God so when this happen there will not be anymore difference between you and God.

Quote:As a drop of water came from the big ocean she is bound to go back in the same ocean.

Quote:Arguments from metaphor don't really prove anything either. You can't make a point with toothless arguments and guesses, Rik. Why should I accept them? If I did, I would have been evangelized by whatever religion got to me first.

This is science VL.
Don't atheists believe in science?  Bird
