So, a 40mm tear gas shell counts as a missile to you? Well, David chucked a "missile" at Goliath...
What about this....(bold mine)
Quote:Today the president made good on his campaign promise to the Fraternal Order of Police to rescind Executive Order 13688 and put thousands of bayonets and hundreds of grenade launchers from the U.S. military back in the hands of police. It also leaves law enforcement’s federally provided drones, explosives, and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles .
.....seems insignificant to you? If you are implying that a grenade launcher is okay for LEO to have, then your attitude might be part of the problem of what's wrong with this country. I know how much you love your po po's, as seen in the Fucking Cops II thread, but let's be honest here. We already have a "well armed militia". They are called the Armed Services of the United States. The US Army Reserves are in every single state to help defend our country HERE, Locally. LEO's don't need to be carrying around such things. And it's nothing to make a joke of, really.
Oh and FYI, the use of tear gas is prohibited by several international treaties, so really - tear gas is a lot more dangerous than you're trying to pass it off to be.
Trump just gave LEO's the freedom to act in the same manner as the military, when it wasn't necessary to do that for obvious reasons.
But I guess that's okay because fuck this country, right?
Quote:Even with the interagency working group’s oversight since January 2015, we continue to see unwarranted police militarization post-Ferguson. Just look at law enforcement’s response at Standing Rock, where armored vehicles, automatic rifles, concussion grenades, sound cannons, and water cannons were used against peaceful protestors. Consider Baton Rouge, where those organizing around the fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling were met with militarization and excessive force. And we still have SWAT teams detonating flash-bang grenades near a 9-month-old when executing home searches for drugs. Do you remember Baby Bou Bou?
Many in law enforcement fail to see how military-grade weapons in America’s communities have negative consequences.
