When I was a kid I ate them plain. In high school I got a job at a hot dog shop and learned the error of my ways.
3 proper ways to eat a hot dog:
1. Mustard, relish, onion, hot peppers, tomato, dill pickle spear. This was our "everything" dog.
2. Kraut and mustard.
3. Chili and onions (cheese optional).
Dogs were boiled. When you start with high quality dogs, you don't need to add flavor by grilling.
Steamed poppy seed bun.
That's good eating. Wish the shop was still around.
Mayo on a hot dog is just wrong.
