Congestion causes cough. Mucous causes congestion.
Robitussin/ Mucinex thins mucous allowing the cough to expel it easier. Google "pulmonary toilet".
DM suppresses cough , thereby suppressing pulmonary toilet.
Most important is to wash hands. Prevent spread to others.
Think of three terms: pathogen, vector, and fomite.
Pathogen: Disease causing organism.
Vector: Living carrier and spreader of that organism. The one who coughs and sneezes. The hands of the carrier that just touched money, phone, keyboard, dinner plate, etc.
Fomite: Inanimate object that vector coughed, sneezed, or touched upon. Keyboards, sink faucet handles, door knob, money, key boards. Think about the grocery store bagger that licks his/ her fingers to separate the plastic bags.
