Fear is the persuasion of the weak! There are in my view many factors why people believe in God and in this case I am referring to the biblical god.The main factor is indoctrination at an early age either by the parents,or the community and society in which they live and are brought up in.We call that here in the states mom and pops religion.Many self proclaimed catholics have never set foot in a catholic church but since that is the dominant religion amongst their family members they claim it as their own.
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition
